Protea Financial Services: Bespoke Mortgage and Protection solutions

"My wife Anthea and I are passionate about helping people with all aspects of their Mortgage, Protection and other borrowing needs. We believe in providing honest professional advice and integrity is the cornerstone of our business".

Jacques Pienaar - Principal

Jacques has been in UK Financial Services since 1994 and prior to that in South Africa since 1989. He has had his own IFA business and has also worked for a number of well known companies including Eagle Star, Scottish Amicable, National Mutual and Standard Life. Jacques is a retired rugby captain and still enjoys the occasional Sunday cricket match playing for East Dean Cricket Club. Jacques also acts as an expert witness in family court proceedings. He regularly produces Mortgage Capacity Reports for solicitors and their clients to demonstrate clients' capacity to mortgage following divorce.

Anthea Pienaar CeMAP - Mortgage and Protection Adviser

Anthea has been a Mortgage and Protection Broker since 2003, having worked as a Personal Choice Manager at Lloyds Bank for a number of years prior to that. Anthea enjoys regular walks on the South Downs with the family and their dog, and she practices Yoga whenever she can make the time.
"When deciding to establish Protea Financial Services, Jacques and I decided
to use our wealth of collective experience to focus on what we believe to be the area with the greatest potential for growth, and one that we both enjoy helping clients with, namely Mortgages and Protection . The Protea is South Africa's national flower, and as Jacques and I were both born there (and I love flowers) it seemed a fitting name for our business."

TREATING CUSTOMERS FAIRLY

As a firm regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, we are supporting the ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ initiative. The TCF principle is that “a firm must pay due regard to the interests of its customers and treat them fairly”.

We aim to provide you with products that perform and our associated services are of a high standard, if not, at least of an acceptable a standard as you would expect. We will also:-

  • Clearly explain and provide you with Key Facts about the services we offer, available products, and our fees and charges
  • Cleary explain and provide you with our Terms of Business
  • We conduct a thorough fact-finding exercise about your circumstances, financial objectives, needs and preferences prior to recommending a mortgage or any other product
  • Where you receive advice, the advice is suitable, affordable and takes account of your circumstances
  • We provide clear information and keep you appropriately informed before, during and after the point of sale
  • If you are unhappy with our service you will have access to our complaints procedure

TCF is not just an initiative but integral to the way our firm carries out its day to day business and ensures that our customers are treated fairly.

To help us improve our services and ensure that you have been treated fairly, we will ask you to complete a TCF Feedback Form at the end of the process. Please be open and honest with us.
